In Hollywood, nothing is guaranteed. Ben Affleck recently shared his thoughts on the volatile nature of the entertainment industry, admitting that anything could spell the end of his career. 'We’re all subject to this sort of insecurity in this business,' the 52-year-old actor told Deadline earlier this month. 'Whether we’re actors or directors or writers, the phone could stop ringing for us.'
Affleck further expressed his concerns, saying, 'This is the only thing I can count on, this upfront money. I don’t know when this might go away. I’m one errant remark away from being canceled, or I’m one movie bomb away from never working again, and I’ve got a family and so forth.'
In response to these uncertainties, Affleck and his longtime friend Matt Damon have launched Artists Equity, a production company aimed at ensuring fair compensation for creators in the industry. Affleck explained, 'I’ve been in movies like ‘Gigli,’ that’s a famous example. I got a big cash payday for that. Well, it doesn’t feel right in retrospect because they [the studio] lost money.' He added, 'It wasn’t the biggest money-losing movie in history even though it was the most famous bomb in history, perhaps. Nonetheless, that doesn’t sit right with me.'
Aside from his professional endeavors, Affleck is also navigating his personal life, including dating again post-divorce from Jennifer Lopez. A source recently told Entertainment Tonight, 'He’s open to it,' though they noted that dating is not his top priority. 'Ben has other priorities that are more important,' the insider said.
Meanwhile, Lopez, 55, has expressed her contentment with being single, stating she is 'not looking for anybody' to date. In an interview with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine, Lopez said, 'Here’s the thing: There’s no new bar because I’m not looking for anybody. How’s that?' She also shared that she does not regret 'one second' of the pain caused by her breakup with Affleck, acknowledging that it was a necessary lesson.
