Ben Stokes is set to return as captain for England in the second Test against Pakistan, with the seam bowler Matthew Potts also being recalled to the XI in Multan.

Chris Woakes and Gus Atkinson will make way following the tourists' remarkable innings victory in the series opener. Stokes, who has been sidelined for his side's last four Tests due to a torn hamstring, opted not to risk his fitness last week but has now been given the all-clear after a series of rigorous workouts. He will reclaim his position at No 6, strengthening a batting lineup that amassed an astonishing 823 for seven in the previous match, and is prepared to share the workload with the ball.

England's pace attack will feature an all-Durham lineup, with Potts joining forces with Brydon Carse, who made an impressive debut. Atkinson has been omitted for the first time since joining the team at the start of the summer, but he and Woakes have been rested after shouldering heavy workloads in the energy-sapping heat of the first Test.
