Bentley's legendary W-12 engine is set to retire, making way for a more powerful hybrid V-8. This new powertrain was first introduced in the 2025 Continental GT Speed, and now it graces the 2025 Flying Spur. The 2025 Flying Spur stands as Bentley's most powerful sedan to date. Its new twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 hybrid engine delivers an impressive 771 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, surpassing the outgoing W-12 in every aspect. This represents a 19% increase in horsepower and an 11% boost in torque compared to the previous model, with a 0-60 mph time of just 3.3 seconds—half a second faster than its predecessor.
Accompanying the V-8 is a 25.9-kilowatt-hour battery pack that contributes 187 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. This setup allows the Flying Spur to achieve 47 miles of electric-only driving range (as per the EU cycle) at speeds up to 87 mph. Combined with the gas engine, the total driving range extends to 515 miles, making it ideal for long-distance travel. The car offers four battery-specific drive modes: Pure EV, Electric Boost, Regenerative Braking, and Charge. The Charge mode utilizes the gas engine to power the wheels and recharge the battery, or you can opt for a Level 2 charger, which takes 2 hours and 45 minutes to fully recharge at a rate of 11 kilowatts.
The 2025 Flying Spur comes standard with Bentley's new Active Chassis system, integrating an adaptive suspension, all-wheel steering, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, and retuned ESC software. The car boasts a weight distribution of 48.3% front and 51.7% rear. Visually, the new Flying Spur is nearly identical to its predecessor, with the iconic rounded headlights remaining, but featuring a unique Speed-specific grille design and a refreshed front bumper with aggressive vent designs. Buyers can enhance the exterior with the Styling Specification aero package, available in carbon fiber or, new for 2025, body-colored paint. The Flying Spur offers 101 color options, including any from Bentley’s historical palette.
Inside, the 2025 Flying Spur sees significant technological advancements thanks to Bentley’s updated electrical architecture. It includes a new digital instrument cluster and a center touchscreen (size undisclosed) that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with over-the-air updates for maps. The My Bentley App Studio allows owners to download third-party apps for music, gaming, navigation, and more. A 10-speaker, 650-watt audio system is standard, with options to upgrade to a 16-speaker, 1,500-watt Bang & Olufsen system or a 19-speaker, 2,200-watt system with Active Bass Transducers in the front seats. Laminated glass for the windshield and side windows reduces noise by nine decibels compared to the previous model.
The 2025 Flying Spur starts at around $217,000 for the 2024 model, but Bentley has yet to release pricing for the 2025 version. Expect it to be even more expensive. The 2025 Flying Spur is expected to arrive at dealerships by the end of the year.
