Best Buy is offering several Nintendo Switch exclusives at 50% off or more, but some of these deals sold out quickly last week. Super Mario RPG remains a standout, staying true to the original while incorporating several quality-of-life improvements that make it more accessible to new players. Longtime fans will enjoy the challenging post-game battles that test their skills.
The Switch version of Super Mario RPG plays much like the iconic Super Nintendo original. The turn-based combat remains engaging, the characters and writing are endearing and humorous, and the world design retains that classic Nintendo charm. GameSpot's review of Super Mario RPG praised the modernized version, calling it a delightful and faithful remake of the SNES classic.
Although Super Mario RPG for Switch is only a year old, Nintendo has since released two more Mario RPG titles. An enhanced edition of the GameCube classic Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door launched in May, earning a 9/10 in our review. In November, Nintendo brought back the Mario & Luigi RPG series with Mario & Luigi: Brothership, which received a 6/10 in our review due to performance and pacing issues.
