The trend of actors portraying iconic figures in biopics is hardly groundbreaking. In recent times, we've witnessed Marisa Abela as Amy Winehouse in 'Back To Black,' Kingsley Ben-Adir as Bob Marley in 'One Love,' Bradley Cooper as Leonard Bernstein in 'Maestro,' and Sebastian Stan as Donald J. Trump in 'The Apprentice.' Just as the market for such films seemed poised to become saturated, 'Waltzing With Brando' emerges with an offer that's hard to refuse. This offer? Titanic star Billy Zane fully immersing himself in the role of Marlon Brando in a comedy centered around the legendary actor's quest to create a sustainable haven on a small Tahitian island.

If the premise sounds unconventional, the trailer takes it to another level. Check out the extraordinary preview for Bill Fishman’s film below: If, like us, you initially thought, “Wait, is this a new 'Godfather' restoration? Don Corleone looks remarkably high definition!”, then let us clarify—that’s not archival footage; it’s Zane. Every bit of Brando we see, from his iconic appearance on 'The Dick Cavett Show' to his time filming 'Last Tango In Paris,' to his environmental activism, is portrayed by Zane. The latter, Brando's environmental efforts, forms the core of the film's humor and narrative focus.

“I’m working on a process to bring clean, drinkable water to the island, made from my own urine,” Brando muses to LA architect-turned-Tetiaroa dream maker Bernard Judge (played by 'Napoleon Dynamite's John Heder), whose memoir inspired the film. According to Variety, the full synopsis reads: “'Waltzing With Brando' follows Brando (Zane)—then the most famous actor in the world—as he filmed 'Mutiny On The Bounty' and purchased a tiny, uninhabitable island in Tahiti. His goal was to escape the chaos of Hollywood and demonstrate a path to sustainability. To realize this vision, he recruits Judge (Heder), an idealistic Los Angeles architect, convincing him that together they could build the world's first truly sustainable ecological retreat.” Richard Dreyfuss and Tia Carrera also star.

As of now, 'Waltzing With Brando' has not secured distribution, so its release date remains uncertain. However, given the global attention Billy Zane's transformation into Brando has garnered from this new trailer, it's only a matter of time before a distribution deal is struck. The Oscar campaign begins here—Zaniacs, unite!
