Earlier this month, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players were thrilled to find that the Season 1 update included double XP tokens from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Modern Warfare 2, and Warzone. However, shortly after their addition, the tokens were unexpectedly removed from the game. In response to the widespread disappointment among fans, Treyarch—Activision's developer for Black Ops 6—has provided an explanation for the removal and offered insights into when the tokens might return.

Treyarch shared an update on X, revealing that the ability to activate legacy XP tokens was a bug that posed a potential risk to game stability. The development team is currently testing methods to reintroduce the feature without causing further disruptions. Additionally, the studio has promised to provide another update on the situation next week.

In the interim, players can still utilize their legacy XP tokens in Warzone, which will remain active if they switch to Black Ops 6 within the specified time frame. While this is not a perfect solution, it should suffice for the time being. Despite this hiccup, Black Ops 6 has already broken engagement records, and its absence from Game Pass on day one does not seem to have affected its success. Instead, Black Ops 6 appears to have once again demonstrated that the Call of Duty franchise transcends any single platform.
