If it seems like your go-to assault rifle in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 isn't as potent after the Season 1 update, you're not alone. Developer Treyarch is currently investigating issues related to the 'damage range values' for this weapon type.

On X, the official Call of Duty Updates account confirmed that the team is examining reports about the effectiveness of assault rifles, with a Trello card stating that Treyarch aims to 'restore assault rifles to their intended damage range values.' A popular Reddit post recently questioned 'what the hell' happened to assault rifles.

Black Ops 6 Season 1 launched yesterday with a hefty file size: 74GB on Xbox and 50GB on PlayStation. The update also brought a lengthy list of patch notes, which amusingly included an increase in assault rifle effectiveness in Hardcore mode. Additionally, Season 1 introduced several new features.

In a welcome surprise, Modern Warfare 3 players found their double XP tokens transferred to Black Ops 6. The same applies to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone players. For Zombies enthusiasts, Black Ops 6 now allows the purchase of Gobblegums with real money.

Earlier this week, a Black Ops 6 player made headlines by reaching Prestige 1 without killing anyone in multiplayer. This player has apparently adopted a pacifist approach since 2020's Black Ops Cold War.
