BMW's Neue Klasse concepts provided a sneak peek into the future design language of the brand. The Neue Klasse sedan made its debut in 2023, followed by the Neue Klasse X crossover earlier this year. However, contrary to many assumptions that these concepts would herald the next era of BMW's electric vehicles, head of design Adrian van Hooydonk clarified that this is not the case. In an interview with Top Gear at the Paris Motor Show, van Hooydonk revealed that every upcoming BMW will incorporate elements from the Neue Klasse concepts—including combustion cars. Some models will be available in both gasoline and electric versions, with slight design variations and proportions to differentiate them.

"The significant push with EVs, these technologies, and this design language, will extend across our entire product range, including our combustion vehicles," van Hooydonk stated. "For customers, this won't be a challenge—they will all receive new, modern BMWs and can select their preferred drivetrain." This is positive news for fans of BMW's Neue Klasse design language. Even more encouraging is van Hooydonk's belief that the production models will look "even better" than the concepts.

"You know how closely the i3 and i8 resembled their concept cars? That's what we aim for here. If anything, I prefer the production cars because they are slightly more compact," he said. BMW plans to have at least five Neue Klasse models on the road by 2029. This lineup includes a new 3 Series—and an M3—along with a couple of SUVs and a sporty, high-riding coupe that was recently spotted during testing. The first of these Neue Klasse models could be unveiled as early as next year, with most arriving in 2026 and beyond.
