If you're still in doubt about the size of today's cars, take a look at this BMW X3 equipped with 22-inch wheels straight from the factory. The recently introduced M Performance Parts catalog for this luxury crossover features oversized alloys that, to be honest, don't appear excessive at all. This is largely due to the fact that the latest X3 model is no longer compact, measuring 187.2 inches in length and 75.6 inches in width, making it actually larger than the first-generation X5. Despite the M badges visible from various angles and the quad exhaust setup, this is not an X3 M; it's an M Performance model, now known as the M50, replacing the former M40i designation. In addition to those extra-large matte black wheels, the new X3 is fitted with a surprisingly large polyurethane roof spoiler, which might be a bit over the top for a crossover but can be painted to match the body color for a better blend. The M50 will lead the pack for the fourth-generation X3, as BMW has no plans to release a full-fledged M variant. These M Performance Parts might deceive the uninformed into thinking it's the real M model, thanks to numerous enhancements. For the first time, a front splitter is available, featuring a three-part design and a glossy black finish. Carbon fiber components are used extensively, including side mirror caps, a rear diffuser, and even the fuel filler cap. This latest X3 has a lot to live up to, considering the previous generation was BMW's top-seller in 2023, with 350,000 units sold. Those looking for additional customization options beyond the standard configurator should note that M Performance Parts also extend to the interior, offering everything from floor mats and stainless-steel pedals to anodized aluminum door lock pins and an Alcantara-wrapped key case. There are no actual performance enhancements or adjustments to the suspension or brakes. The side decals and aramid antenna won't boost the X3's speed, and the inline-six engine remains at 393 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. The turbocharged 3.0-liter engine propels the M50 version to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and up to a top speed of 155 mph. BMW plans to release the new X3 in the final quarter of the year, with the M50 starting at $65,275 before options and M Performance Parts.
