Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty visited Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday night to offer their condolences to the family of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was fatally shot by unidentified assailants.
Actor Zaheer Iqbal also joined the group at the hospital to express his support to Siddique's family. The actors conveyed their sympathies and solidarity to the bereaved family during this trying period.
Actor Riteish Deshmukh expressed his sorrow over the incident, stating, "The perpetrators of this heinous crime must be held accountable." Deshmukh further shared on X, "Deeply saddened and speechless upon hearing about the tragic passing of Shri #BabaSiddique ji - My thoughts are with @zeeshan_iyc and the entire family- May God grant them the strength to endure this difficult time."
Siddique was shot dead by unknown attackers in Mumbai on Saturday evening. A three-time MLA from Bandra West, Siddique had joined Ajit Pawar's NCP in February this year after resigning from the Congress.
Mumbai Additional CP Paramjit Singh Dahiya confirmed the arrest of two suspects. "The incident took place around 9.30 pm in Nirmal Nagar. Baba Siddique was rushed to Lilavati Hospital after being shot. Two suspects have been apprehended, and the Mumbai Crime Branch is handling the investigation," Dahiya informed reporters.
Mumbai Police reported that they have recovered the firearm used in the crime. "A 9.9mm pistol was used in the shooting," officials disclosed.
