Maia Bouchier and Danni Wyatt-Hodge shone brightly as England inched closer to securing a spot in the semi-finals of the women’s T20 World Cup, following a dominant 10-wicket victory over Scotland in Sharjah.
Scotland, already out of the tournament, managed to post their highest total of the competition in their final Group B match, reaching 109 for six. However, this score was comfortably surpassed by England’s dynamic opening pair, who completed the task with a remarkable 10 overs to spare.
Bouchier, who was dropped on 12, made Scotland regret their mistake by scoring an unbeaten 62 off just 34 balls. Meanwhile, Wyatt-Hodge contributed with a swift 51 not out off 26 deliveries, ensuring England’s smooth progression to their third consecutive win.
This commanding performance significantly enhanced England’s net run-rate, and a victory against the West Indies on Tuesday could potentially secure them the top spot in the group. Such a result might also help them avoid a semi-final clash with Australia.
