On Saturday, Brazilian emergency crews retrieved the remains of the 62 victims from an airliner that crashed in Vinhedo, near Sao Paulo, the previous day, according to Reuters. Most of the bodies - 34 males and 28 females - were transported to Sao Paulo's police morgue for identification. Earlier in the day, Mayor Dario Pacheco confirmed that the pilot and co-pilot had been identified. Voepass, the regional carrier operating the aircraft, initially reported 57 passengers and four crew members on board, but later confirmed an additional passenger, bringing the total number of casualties to 62. The ATR-72 plane, operated by Voepass Linhas Areas, was traveling from Cascavel, Parana, to Guarulhos, Sao Paulo, as reported by G1. In response to the tragedy, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva declared three days of national mourning. Meanwhile, the UAE offered its heartfelt condolences and support to the Brazilian government, people, and families of the victims.
