Britain is set to suspend 30 out of its 350 arms export licenses with Israel immediately, as there is a risk that such equipment could be used to commit serious breaches of international humanitarian law, according to Foreign Minister David Lammy on Monday.

Following the Labour Party's election victory in July, Lammy announced he would revise a review on arms sales to Israel, a British ally, to ensure compliance with international law.

"I must convey with regret to the House (of Commons, the lower house of parliament) that the assessment I have received leads me to conclude that there is a clear risk that certain UK arms exports to Israel might be used to commit or facilitate a serious violation of international humanitarian law," Lammy stated.
