British Airways announced on Thursday that it will suspend flights to Beijing from October 26 until November 2025, without providing a specific reason. The airline, which is part of IAG, will maintain its daily services to Shanghai and Hong Kong. Due to the inability of European and British carriers to utilize Russian airspace, flights to Asia have become longer, more costly, and less attractive to customers. Competitors like Lufthansa have reported that the advantage Chinese carriers have with access to Russian airspace has negatively impacted their earnings, with Lufthansa seeing a decline in yields on routes where they compete with these carriers.
