Actor Bryan Cranston, who famously portrayed Walter White in five seasons of Breaking Bad, is donning the Heisenberg hat once more. However, this time, his return is not for a Breaking Bad revival. Instead, Cranston is making a one-off promotional appearance, akin to his comeback in a Super Bowl commercial. For his latest venture, Cranston will feature in 15- and 30-second public service announcements in New Mexico to highlight the negative impact of littering. The campaign, titled 'Breaking Bad Habits,' sees Cranston, as White, delivering a stern message: 'Keep litter out of my territory.'

Walter White, known for his infamous pizza-on-the-roof incident, has also left a trail of destruction across New Mexico. Yet, even he can change his ways. New Mexico governor Michelle Lujan Grisham stated to The Associated Press, 'We're going to discuss reducing packaging and plastics and where they end up.' Breaking Bad, which was filmed in New Mexico, sparked a tourism boom in the state. The state will allocate $3 million for billboards, TV spots, t-shirts, and bus ads, as well as funding trash cleanup efforts.

'Most public service campaigns rely on common sense and empathy... that's not what we did here!' Cranston remarked, as reported by the Santa Fe New Mexican. 'Walter White embodies a certain threat in the message... but all in good fun. I love New Mexico. It's a naturally beautiful state, rich in culture. Let's do our part to keep it beautiful.' Lujan Grisham noted that assembling the TV ads 'took a lot of work,' partly due to securing licensing approval from Sony Pictures TV. Albuquerque mayor Martin Chavez also played a crucial role in getting Cranston to volunteer for the ads.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan supports the anti-littering campaign, believing it aligns with Walter White's character. 'I jumped at the chance, and I had a lot of fun making it. And I think it's for a very good cause, because we live in the aptly named Land of Enchantment. And anything we can do to keep it enchanting and enchanted, we need to do,' he said.

In addition to his Super Bowl ad for PopCorners and an episode of Better Call Saul, Cranston reprised his role as Walter White in the Breaking Bad movie El Camino. There are currently no plans for further Breaking Bad spin-offs, and Gilligan is now working on a sci-fi series for Apple with Better Call Saul's Rhea Seehorn.
