The last time Cameron Diaz appeared on screen, she was belting out songs and scolding kids as the wicked Miss Hannigan in Will Gluck’s 2014 remake of 'Annie'. Now, after a decade-long hiatus from Hollywood, Diaz is set to return to the big screen in the Netflix film 'Back In Action'. This spy comedy, directed by Seth Gordon of 'Horrible Bosses' fame, sees Diaz reunite with her 'Annie' and 'Any Given Sunday' co-star Jamie Foxx. In the film, Diaz and Foxx play Emily and Matt, a suburban couple whose past as elite CIA agents catches up with them when their cover is blown.

For Diaz, who has spent the last ten years focusing on family life with her husband, former Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden, it was the opportunity to work with Foxx that drew her back to acting. “If I was going to come back and do a movie, the only person I’d do it with would be Jamie,” Diaz told Empire. “I had other opportunities, but I always said no. Then Jamie asked, and I thought, ‘Oh, I can do a movie with Jamie!’”

Foxx, too, is thrilled to be working with Diaz again. “I feel lucky to have had the chance to work with Cameron,” he shared. “When people are excited about her return, I’m glad I had a part in it.”

As for whether this marks a permanent return to acting, Diaz remains non-committal. “I don’t know how to define it,” she said. “I reserve the right to say no to future projects, but also to say yes if I feel it’s right for me and my family.” One thing is clear though: “No more romcoms, only momcoms,” Diaz declared. “Mom’s the word.”
