Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche (CDM) has handed over its bespoke 42.6-metre explorer yacht, Babbo, following her launch in July 2024.
The exterior design was a collaborative effort with Francesco Paszkowski, while Hydro Tec is responsible for the naval architecture. Key specifications include an internal volume of 499GT and a beam of 8.7 metres. Equipped with a steel hull and boasting a cruising range of 5,000 nautical miles, Babbo is capable of navigating extreme conditions and reaching distant destinations.
Powered by two heavy-duty Caterpillar C32 Acert engines that comply with IMO Tier III standards, the yacht offers a top speed of 14 knots. The interior design embodies an 'indoor/outdoor ethos,' achieved through extensive use of glass in both the main and upper deck saloons. The latter features a bright, glass-enclosed veranda, providing a direct connection with the sea.
Accommodation includes four double guest suites on the main deck forward, along with two twin cabins on the lower deck. The lower deck also houses four crew cabins, a captain’s suite adjacent to the wheelhouse, and a sizeable galley with a crew mess and laundry facilities.
Babbo is equipped to carry a variety of water toys, with dedicated storage located forward on the upper deck. According to BOATPro, CDM currently has 11 yachts on order or under construction. This includes the unveiling of a new 31.1-metre explorer model, RAW, at this year's Cannes Yachting Festival. The first unit of RAW has already been sold, featuring highlights such as drone and helicopter landing capabilities and a swim platform designed as a 'panoramic balcony'.
