Cardiff City have dismissed manager Erol Bulut following a poor start to the new Championship season. The Bluebirds' 2-0 home loss to Leeds on Saturday has left them at the bottom of the table with only one point from their first six games. During this period, they managed to score just one goal while conceding 13.

In a brief statement, the club announced that Bulut "has been relieved of his duties and will depart the club with immediate effect. The board of directors expresses gratitude to Erol for his dedication and wishes him success in his future endeavors."

Bulut was appointed by Cardiff in June 2023 and guided them to a 12th-place finish last season, which led to a two-year contract extension in the summer. The club also confirmed that first-team coach Nikolaos Karydas will be leaving, with Omer Riza stepping in as interim manager.
