Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion, advanced to his fourth Grand Slam final at Wimbledon on Friday after overcoming a set deficit to triumph over Daniil Medvedev. Alcaraz, ranked third in the world, defeated his fifth-ranked rival 6-7 (1/7), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 and is set to compete against either seven-time champion Novak Djokovic or Lorenzo Musetti for the championship on Sunday.

Medvedev twice gained the upper hand with breaks in the initial set but was subsequently matched by Alcaraz. His frustration led to a warning for unsportsmanlike conduct from umpire Eva Asderaki due to a perceived foul-mouthed response to a ball called for bouncing twice during a break in the ninth game. The tournament referee was called to Centre Court by Asderaki, but Medvedev managed to focus and win the tie-break, taking the first set with only eight unforced errors compared to Alcaraz's 15.

This marked the third occasion at this year's Wimbledon where Alcaraz had lost the opening set. He responded with a strong comeback, breaking Medvedev for a 3-1 lead in the second set after winning a 27-shot rally in the previous game. The 21-year-old then delivered 14 winners in the third set, securing the only break in the third game. Medvedev, who had previously eliminated world number one Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals, managed to break back early in the fourth set. However, Alcaraz maintained his momentum, regaining the lead for 4-3 and ultimately securing victory.
