On Sunday, I had the privilege of witnessing a unique and awe-inspiring event celebrating our Independence Day, organized under the auspices of Emirates Loves Pakistan in collaboration with the Pakistan Association Dubai. This star-studded, full-day event showcased our rich culture and diversity to a packed audience.
Our deep connection with Dubai began 27 years ago when we relocated from New York to take up assignments with Pepsico/Yum Brands. I can confidently say that Dubai has become our second home. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the Government for providing us with comfort, safety, security, and opportunities to thrive in a diverse and welcoming environment.
The success of our business in this region is largely due to His Highness’s philosophy of Dream, Design, and Execute, which has shaped this Emirate into a role model and beacon of light. This simple yet powerful motto emphasizes the importance of dreams, design, and execution in bringing major projects to life.
At the core of this philosophy is the need for mental toughness, robust health, and empathy. Recognizing the importance of mental health, I established TASKEEN, a non-government organization focused on mental health in Pakistan seven years ago. TASKEEN aims to prevent mental health challenges through education, expression, and advocacy.
The recent extraordinary performance by Arshad Nadeem, our javelin throw hero, serves as an inspiration for the nation. We hope his achievements will inspire the youth to build a healthier and happier Pakistan. As a long-time ambassador of Pakistan, I believe in showcasing Pakistan as a promising investment opportunity.
In Dubai, I advise and consult in Food Retail and mentor CEOs through a customized mentoring program. I also host a social media platform in Pakistan to raise awareness among the elite and galvanize the youth. I urge our overseas community and leadership to be mindful of their social media posts and to actively contribute to our homeland.
I appeal to our leadership in Pakistan to trust and engage with us, as we are eager to contribute to Pakistan’s economic growth. Pakistanis in the Middle East remit significant amounts of money, and we can facilitate business partnerships and collaborations between Pakistan and other countries.
I invite everyone to visit the Pakistan Centre in Dubai, managed by the Pakistan Association Dubai. I also thank Khaleej Times for allowing me to share my views.
