On the joyous occasion of Independence Day, I extend my sincere congratulations to the people of Pakistan, both at home and abroad. We honor the tremendous sacrifices of our forefathers and the numerous unsung heroes of the Pakistan Movement, who relentlessly fought for an independent nation in South Asia where millions could live by their beliefs and values. As envisioned by Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Pakistan became an independent and sovereign state on the world map on August 14, 1947, under the resolute leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and through the unparalleled sacrifices of our ancestors.

Through the relentless and selfless efforts of our founding fathers, Pakistan overcame the significant challenges it faced during its formative years. Over the decades, Pakistan has reached numerous milestones. Despite facing natural disasters and economic and social challenges, the resilience and unity of our people have always shone through. I recognize the crucial role of our Overseas Pakistanis in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. Although you may be far from home, you are an essential part of this nation. We are proud of your hard work and achievements and consider you true Ambassadors of Pakistan, projecting its positive image worldwide.

On this occasion, I express my gratitude to our armed forces, who protect our borders and safeguard our sovereignty. Their dedication and sacrifices are deserving of our highest respect and appreciation. Pakistan is at a pivotal point today. While our common values, rich cultural heritage, and diverse traditions unite us, our economy faces significant challenges such as inflation, high energy costs, unemployment, and a growing debt burden. Since taking power after the February 2024 elections, our consistent focus has been on creating the right conditions for economic growth and stability. Pakistan’s rich natural resources and youthful workforce are our true assets. We are taking steps to attract investments to fully utilize these resources, creating job opportunities, accelerating industrialization, and bringing economic prosperity. The government’s focus is also on education and skill development to further empower our youth and equip them with the tools needed in the competitive global economy. I am personally overseeing the national drive to digitize the entire ecosystem and broaden the tax base to provide relief to those already paying taxes.

In a short span, our efforts have begun to yield positive results. The economy is on its path to stability. The high inflation rate of 38 percent has decreased to 11.1 percent (July) and will soon be brought down to a single digit, Inshallah. We are working hard to reduce electricity prices, and the nation will soon see the results. I am confident that together, we will continue our journey with the spirit of independence for the benefit and welfare of our citizens. Through collaborative efforts, we will work towards an inclusive and prosperous Pakistan, for us and for our future generations, as envisioned by our founders. Happy Independence Day!
