The Centurion Club, located on the outskirts of London in St Albans, recently hosted the $1 million ARAMCO Team Series Presented by PIF – London on the Ladies European Tour, featuring 108 players. The event comprised two parallel competitions: the Individual Event, a 54-hole tournament won by Ireland’s Leona Maguire, who scored 66, 72, and 73, totaling 211, eight under par. The Team Event, spanning 36 holes, included teams of three professionals and one amateur, with the top 36 ranked players according to the ROLEX Women’s World Golf Rankings at the start of the week serving as Team Captains. These Captains selected their teams through a draft process, culminating in a draw for the final professional slot, and completed their teams with an invited amateur golfer. Team Nadaud, comprising Natalie Nadaud (Fr), Kristyna Napoleaova (Cze), Mireia Prat (Spain), and amateur George Brooksbank (Eng), emerged victorious over Team Hall in a thrilling three-hole playoff on Saturday evening. The teams were tied at 268, 24 under par after 36 holes, leading to a sudden-death playoff to determine the winner. In the playoff, France’s Nastasia Nadaud and England’s Georgia Hall faced off from the 18th tee, both making an eagle on the first playoff hole and a birdie on the second. Nadaud ultimately secured the win for her team with a birdie on the third hole. “I was incredibly nervous on the first tee,” admitted Nadaud, still a teenager. “I was afraid I wouldn’t hit the ball. I was trembling.” Kristyna Napoleaova, a 28-year-old Czech player who often trains in Dubai, expressed her team’s excitement: “It was amazing to watch both Nas and Georgia. Both played incredible golf, and everyone enjoyed the playoff. It was incredible, well done to both teams.” Each professional in the winning team earned $32,403.35, while individual champion Maguire took home $69,435.75. The next ARAMCO Team Series event is scheduled for October 4th – 6th, 2024, in Asia. This week, the LET advances to the fourth major of the year, the $8 million Amundi Evian Championship, set to take place at Evian Resort Golf Club, France, from July 11th – 14th.
