Check-ins at Terminal 2 resumed on Saturday night following a temporary suspension due to a fire incident, a spokesperson for Dubai International Airport (DXB) confirmed to Khaleej Times.
"Check-in operations at Terminal 2 are now functioning normally," DXB stated. The terminal, which serves approximately 50 airlines, experienced disruptions in check-in services on July 20; however, after more than 40 minutes, authorities announced the resumption of these services.
Earlier, the authority had issued a statement explaining that a minor fire had occurred, prompting the temporary suspension of check-ins. The fire was swiftly contained by the airport's fire services, according to the statement.
"We apologize for any inconvenience caused and are collaborating with service partners to address the situation," the statement added.
Terminal 2 features four main passenger levels, with Level 1 housing the arrivals area. Level 3 hosts the departures area, where passengers departing from Dubai will go. This level also includes check-in counters, ticket sales desks, and cashier services.
Dubai Terminal 2 serves as the primary hub for Dubai's budget airline, flydubai, and accommodates both scheduled and charter flights for various carriers.
