Adapted from a play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, a Chicago-based reporter who drew inspiration from real-life crimes she covered, Chicago was also adapted into a 2002 film. The movie featured Renée Zellweger as Roxie Hart, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Velma Kelly, and Richard Gere as the lawyer with all the answers.
