Exciting MCU news is here! After making a surprising and unexpected cameo in this summer's R-rated mutant mash-up Deadpool & Wolverine, which has now been nominated for Golden Globes, it seems Chris Evans isn't quite done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet. According to Deadline, Evans is set to reunite with his Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame co-star Robert Downey Jr. and directors The Russo Brothers for the upcoming Multiverse Saga movie Avengers: Doomsday.

Details about Evans' role in Doomsday are currently under wraps, but with the multiverse in play, the possibilities are endless. Deadline reports that Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson will be Captain America in the film, making it unlikely but not impossible for Evans to don the suit again. Alternatively, he could reprise his role as Steve Rogers, who we last saw as an old man at the end of Avengers: Endgame, having lived a long and happy life with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). There's also a chance that Evans could return as Johnny Storm from The Fantastic Four, especially after his recent, more colorful portrayal in Deadpool & Wolverine.

However, with RDJ's casting as Doctor Doom, anything is possible, and Evans could even appear as a completely different character from Marvel's vast canon. What we do know is that Deadline has hinted at multiple original MCU cast members making appearances as the Multiverse Saga reaches its climax. Anthony and Joe Russo, the masterminds behind some of the MCU's best films and the second highest-grossing movie ever, Endgame, will be directing. As May 1, 2026 approaches, fans are gearing up for whatever Avengers: Doomsday has in store. Avengers assemble... and start brainstorming your Secret Wars theories now!
