Sandfall Interactive, the developer of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has disclosed further information about the English voice cast for their upcoming action-RPG. The game boasts an impressive lineup of talent, featuring Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Ben Starr (Final Fantasy 16), Jennifer English (Baldur's Gate 3), and Venom 2 director Andy Serkis. Serkis, known for his roles in indie Lord of the Rings films, is also part of the cast.
In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Cox lends his voice to Gustave, the leader of an expedition aimed at thwarting the lethal Paintress from completing her deadly masterpiece. Raised in the city of Lumière, Gustave is determined to save his city from the Paintress's terror. Conversely, Jennifer English voices Maelle, a solitary and young member of the expeditionary force eager to escape Lumière. Ben Starr's character, Verso, is a mysterious figure tracking the team, while Serkis portrays Renoir, a man driven to rescue his family and willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Other notable cast members include Kirsty Rider (Sandman) as Lune and Shala Nyx (The Old Guard) as Sciel. Lead writer and voice producer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen detailed the character development process in a PlayStation Blog post, explaining how the history of Lumière and each character's family background influenced their roles and challenges.
The latest trailer for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 showcases several new gameplay elements, including traversal mechanics, new locations, and a brief look at the Golgra and The Tisseur enemies that will test players' reflexes. Initially unveiled during the June Xbox Games Showcase, the game is set to release in 2025 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. With its striking art style inspired by the Belle Époque period of 20th-Century France, the game combines real-time action elements like dodges, parries, and counters with traditional turn-based combat.
