Petrolheads and car enthusiasts flocked to the Emirates Golf Club on Saturday to admire the stunning classic cars on display at the second RM Sotheby’s auction in Dubai. Among the highlights of the closed event on Sunday is a “rare” supercar valued at Dh44 million, a “perfect” emerald necklace, and a “signature” handbag.
The items are open for public preview until 3pm on Sunday. The auction, scheduled for Sunday evening, will feature bids from around the world on a variety of cars, watches, jewelry, and handbags. “Bidders can participate by phone, online, or in person,” explained Peter Haynes, Marketing & Communications Director for EMEA at Sotheby's. “We anticipate around 400 attendees, making the auction an exciting spectacle,” he added.
Here are eight of the rare items up for grabs:
1. The Pagani Zonda A bespoke 2014 Pagani Zonda 760 LM Roadster: Estimated to sell for over Dh44 million, this car is a rare find at an auction.
2. The Royal Car: A bespoke 2002 Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG V12, formerly owned by the Dubai royal family, represents a unique opportunity for collectors.
3. Aston Martin: A 2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie Coupé, one of only 150 examples, is expected to fetch nearly Dh1 million.
4. Ferraris: Several Ferraris, including some without reserve prices, are expected to attract first-time collectors.
5. Rolls Royce: A 1964 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III 'Flying Spur' Sports Saloon, expected to sell for over Dh1 million, has already garnered significant interest.
6. 1970 Ferrari Dino: This car is a personal favorite of Peter Wallman, Chairman, UK & EMEA at RM Sotheby’s, and is expected to bring in approximately Dh1.5 million.
7. Hermès rare handbag: A Hermès Himalaya Birkin 35cm, made from Niloticus crocodile skin, is expected to fetch roughly Dh70,000.
8. Statement necklace: A diamond and emerald necklace with a unique pendant is expected to sell for roughly Dh6.5 million.
