The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) has once again raised the bar in the global sourcing arena with the triumphant conclusion of the second edition of the Brands of India trade show. Hosted in Dubai, the event featured over 150 prominent Indian clothing brands and white-label manufacturers, presenting a diverse array of apparel across men’s, women’s, and kids’ wear categories. The showcased range included casual, ethnic, formal, denim, athleisure, winterwear, sleepwear, innerwear, and more, addressing every fashion requirement imaginable.

The event drew an impressive crowd of over 2,000 visitors from 60 countries, solidifying India’s reputation as a leading hub for premium apparel. Retailers, wholesalers, and importers from regions including the Middle East, North Africa, the UK, the USA, Australia, Canada, Germany, Greece, Singapore, South Africa, and others converged to explore India’s outstanding apparel offerings. Amidst global disruptions in apparel manufacturing centers like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and China, India is shining as a beacon of resilience. The country’s apparel exports are projected to hit $17 billion by 2024, marking a potential growth of 5-7 per cent from the previous year. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the UAE is poised to further boost exports, positioning India as a key player in global trade.

Commenting on the event’s success, Santosh Katariya, president of CMAI, stated: “The second edition of Brands of India has exceeded our expectations. We are profoundly thankful to all participants, retailers, and buyers who contributed to its overwhelming success. The superior quality, variety, and competitive pricing of Indian apparel have been crucial in driving order bookings and lead generation. We are confident that the connections made here will fuel the growth of India’s apparel exports.” Mujeeb Rehiman, director of buying at LuLu Group International, UAE, expressed his enthusiasm: “India stands out as a favored sourcing destination for our group, particularly as manufacturing costs in China continue to escalate. With Indian factories adopting modern, eco-friendly manufacturing practices, we see vast potential for collaboration.” Retailer Rosalin Wambui Wamwiria from Kenya added: “The diversity and quality of Indian apparel are striking. We plan to introduce Indian kidswear to our local market after witnessing the exceptional production standards showcased here.”

The show also served as a launchpad for both emerging and established brands to broaden their global reach. Nirav Sanghvi, representing Ahmedabad-based men’s casualwear brand ColourHunt, noted: “This event has facilitated our connections with retail buyers and distributors across Asia, Europe, and Africa. Dubai’s strategic location as a trade hub makes this an indispensable opportunity for brands like ours.” Madhav and Jaivardhan Goel of Ankhua Group, known for their women’s woven dresses, praised the event’s organization, emphasizing the significant buyer turnout driven by CMAI’s marketing efforts. Similarly, Yash and Raj from women’s bottom-wear brand Ms. Maven shared their excitement about the positive reception of their product range, including jeggings, wide-leg pants, and boot-cut designs.

India’s apparel industry is globally renowned for its skilled craftsmanship, cost-efficiency, and flexible production capabilities. The show united top manufacturers from cities such as Mumbai, Jaipur, Surat, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Tirupur, Kolkata, Noida, Ludhiana, New Delhi, and Indore, highlighting the diversity and robustness of India’s manufacturing sector. Leading exhibitors included brands like 8i, Amul Florio, Anchor Socks, Bodycare, Denim Dusk, ColourHunt, Lux Premium, Noor By Aditee, Topman, Urbasy Apparels, and many others, offering a comprehensive selection of high-quality products.

The Brands of India trade show has solidified its status as a premier apparel sourcing event in the Middle East, presenting the finest of Indian craftsmanship to a global audience and propelling the growth of India’s apparel export sector.
