Concord's director, Ryan Ellis, has reportedly stepped down from his role at Firewalk Studios to move over to a support position while the studio's future remains uncertain. According to a report from Kotaku, Sony has not yet decided on how or if it will proceed with Concord.

The developers within Firewalk are reportedly pessimistic about the game's return after it was taken offline earlier this month. Some employees have been asked to explore pitches for new projects, while others speculate that Firewalk could serve as a support studio for one of Sony's other first-party projects in development.

However, other employees anticipate mass layoffs and even a potential studio closure, given that Firewalk is reportedly one of the more expensive studios within PlayStation's suite of first-party developers. Some employees have already updated their portfolios and left Firewalk, while those who remain are waiting to see what kind of severance package they will receive if Sony proceeds with layoffs.

Concord was released on August 23 for PS5 and PC but was taken offline on September 6 due to low player counts and reportedly dismal sales. Despite its fate, the game will still be featured in Amazon's new video game TV show. Those who purchased the digital copy have had it removed from their accounts after being refunded.
