Cranleigh's Thomas Nesbitt is set to shine at the 8th edition of the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME) Golf Open, which kicks off on Monday at Arabian Ranches Golf Club in Dubai.
Eighteen schools from Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Qatar, and Dubai will vie for top honours in this prestigious event. The tournament, featuring a 36-hole format, will commence with the first tee time at 11:10 am, with players starting from both the 1st and 10th tees. The final tee time is scheduled for 12:58 pm.
Among the notable participants is Thomas Nesbitt from Cranleigh, a UAE National Team member with a handicap of +3. Craig Murray from GEMS First Point, with a handicap of +3.3, stands out as the player with the lowest handicap in the competition.
Cranleigh School in Abu Dhabi is back to defend their team title, having won last year at Yas Acres Golf & Country Club. Tom Lappin, Head of Physical Education at Hartland International School Dubai and Chief Organiser of the Organising Committee, expressed excitement for the event, stating, “We are all set for a great couple of days of school golf at Arabian Ranches Golf Club. The event is for our elite golfers including participation from all the players.”
The handicap range spans from +3.3 to 51.5, with 104 confirmed golfers participating—both boys and girls—along with a waitlist. There are nine players with scratch or better, and different flights to accommodate various skill levels.
The tournament is sponsored by NALA Education, The Brain & Performance Centre, Dubai, and OG Sports.
