Cricket Scotland is thrilled to unveil a sponsorship deal with Heriot-Watt University for the Scotland Women’s squad, as they prepare for their inaugural appearance at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. This marks the first time the Scotland Women’s national team has partnered with Heriot-Watt University, with the university’s logo prominently displayed on the team’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup jersey. The jerseys, unveiled by team members during a photoshoot in Dubai, feature the striking pink design that has become synonymous with Scotland’s cricket teams.

The Scotland Women’s team has opted to wear the vibrant pink T20 World Cup shirt, mirroring the choice of Scotland’s men earlier this year, as they make their debut on the international stage. Professor Richard A Williams, principal and vice-chancellor of Heriot-Watt University, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the university’s long-standing commitment to equal opportunities for women. He stated, “We are proud to sponsor the Scotland Women’s national cricket team at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, the first time Scotland has qualified for this prestigious women’s competition. This collaboration aligns with our mission to empower and inspire our communities in Scotland, Dubai, and beyond.”

Professor Dame Heather McGregor, provost and vice principal of Heriot-Watt University Dubai, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the university’s dedication to supporting women’s aspirations and excellence. She said, “We are excited to welcome the Scotland women’s national cricket team to our Dubai campus, providing our students and community with a unique opportunity to connect with these remarkable athletes. Their passion and determination reflect the values of Heriot-Watt University, and we look forward to supporting them in their journey.”

Trudy Lindblade, Cricket Scotland chief executive, expressed deep gratitude to Heriot-Watt University for their support, noting that the partnership aligns perfectly with Cricket Scotland’s new four-year strategy, which prioritizes the growth of Women’s and Girls’ cricket. Claire Drummond, Cricket Scotland commercial manager, added, “This partnership is a perfect fit for Cricket Scotland, as we share the university’s values of inspiring, collaborating, and promoting equality. The players will wear the new T20 World Cup shirt with pride, representing both Scotland and Heriot-Watt University on a global platform.”
