In March 2025, the Critical Role team will mark the 10th anniversary of their immensely popular live play series, which has grown into an independent media empire encompassing The Legend of Vox Machina animated series and more. Now, Critical Role appears to be on the brink of another significant leap by venturing into video game development.

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Laura Bailey of Critical Role revealed that the team has been "discussing the idea of creating a video game since we first started playing together." Travis Willingham added that these conversations might soon yield tangible results. "I would say it's an ongoing effort on our part," Willingham noted. "Hopefully, we'll have something thrilling to announce, perhaps by the end of this year or early 2025, just in time for our 10-year anniversary. But it's definitely something we've been considering. Our collaborations with various partners have been small steps to gauge the waters. There's a lot of turbulence in the interactive space right now, and we've observed studios navigating these challenges. We're trying to learn from this and figure out how we might integrate into that broader ecosystem."

All members of the Critical Role cast are voice actors, bringing extensive experience to the table. Bailey, for instance, has notable roles in The Last of Us Part II and Spider-Man, in addition to her narration work in Worlds of Aria. Matt Mercer recently shared insights on breaking into video game voiceovers during an appearance on Star Players. If the Critical Role team proceeds with a video game project, it remains uncertain whether it would be based on an existing campaign or a wholly original narrative.
