The Nintendo Switch lacks an officially licensed guitar controller for Fortnite Festival, but it's set to receive a spiritual successor to a controller that was once bundled with Guitar Hero: On Tour for the Nintendo DS. Controller manufacturer CRKD is launching a Fortnite Festival Edition of its impressive Neo S Controller, complete with a 5-fret attachment. This Bluetooth-enabled controller is compatible with Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile devices, and is available for preorder on Amazon for $60, ahead of its December 20 release.

Designed by the team behind Guitar Hero and DJ Hero controllers, the Neo S Fortnite Festival Edition harks back to the 4-fret attachment that fit into the Game Boy Advance slot on the DS. Playing Guitar Hero with a cartridge slot attachment was actually quite enjoyable, so the Fortnite Festival Edition Neo S for Switch and PC promises to be a cool addition. Moreover, the 'Purple Wave' color scheme is arguably the best-looking officially licensed Fortnite controller available.

The controller comes with a velcro wrist strap to prevent it from flying across the room during intense guitar solos, and a microfiber string bag for travel. CRKD states that it is compatible with Fortnite Festival on streaming platforms like Luna and Xbox Cloud Gaming, as well as a wide range of other rhythm games. Apart from the detachable five-button module, the Fortnite Festival Edition shares the same features as the existing Neo S controllers.

CRKD's Neo S is a pro-style controller in a compact form factor, featuring Hall Effect analog sticks that combat stick drift and swappable thumbstick caps. Additional stick tops are sold separately in bundles of eight. The Neo S also boasts Hall Effect triggers with customizable sensitivity via the CRKD mobile app, where you can also map inputs and access optional preloaded configurations, including a turbo mode.

Switch owners seeking improved ergonomics in handheld mode should also consider CKRD's Nitro Deck, one of GameSpot's favorite handheld controllers for the Nintendo Switch. Priced at $50 individually or $80 in a limited-edition bundle with a carrying case, the Nitro Deck offers a premium feel, full-size inputs, four remappable back buttons, and customization options via the official CRKD app. The limited-edition bundles feature striking color schemes, such as the GameCube-inspired model, and a range of transparent colors like Atomic Red and Emerald Green. It also includes a built-in kickstand for tabletop mode and passthrough USB-C for charging.

For Hellboy fans, the officially licensed Hellboy-themed Nitro Deck (without a carrying case) is currently on sale for $50 (originally $60). You can also purchase CRKD's hardshell carrying case with a shoulder strap for $25 on Amazon. Alternatively, there's a shoulder bag for travel with ample space for additional accessories, priced at $40 (originally $50).

CRKD recently introduced the Nitro Deck+, which swaps the positions of the face buttons and analog stick on the right side, adds a pair of side buttons, and supports both USB-C passthrough for charging and HDMI passthrough for video output. This means you don't need to remove the Switch from the Nitro Deck+ to play on your TV.
