Actor Daisy Ridley has recently disclosed her health condition, revealing that she has been diagnosed with Graves' disease. The Star Wars star shared this personal update in her latest interview with Women's Health, as reported by Variety. Graves' disease is an autoimmune disorder that leads to an excess production of thyroid hormones. Typical symptoms include tremors, heat sensitivity, weight loss, and skin problems. Ridley started experiencing symptoms such as a heightened heart rate, rapid weight loss, fatigue, and shaky hands after filming the thriller Magpie. "I assumed, 'Well, I've just taken on a very demanding role,' probably that's why I feel unwell," Ridley explained.
Upon discussing her symptoms with an endocrinologist, they described the sensation of Graves' disease as "tired but weird." This realization made Ridley aware of how irritable she had become during the initial stages of the disease. "It was amusing, I thought, 'Oh, I just thought I was annoyed with the world,'" Ridley recounted. "But it turns out everything is functioning so rapidly, you can't relax."
Following her diagnosis, Ridley has been diligent about her health, eliminating gluten from her diet. Although she is not "extremely strict about it," the dietary change generally improves her well-being. Her health regimen now includes infrared saunas, cryotherapy, and acupuncture. She also carries a rose quartz stone, believed to soothe emotional distress, enhance inner peace, and foster self-love. "I engage in a fair amount of holistic practices, but I also recognize that it is a privilege to be able to partake in these activities," Ridley noted.
In 2018, Wendy Williams disclosed her Graves' disease diagnosis and took a three-week break from her talk show due to the condition, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
