Dutch shipyard Damen Yachting has completed the delivery of its second 53.3-metre support vessel, named Five Oceans. This milestone comes after her successful launch in March 2024, witnessed by her enthusiastic owner, Tommy Allen. As reported by BOATPro, the vessel is currently anchored in Nice, France, preparing for her grand debut at this year's Monaco Yacht Show.

Five Oceans will play a crucial role in supporting Allen's company, Five Oceans Global Solutions, which is committed to marine conservation, resource management, and safe deep-sea exploration. "Five Oceans will be instrumental in researching marine life beneath the ocean's surface, a mission that is pivotal to Mr. Allen's operations and a vision we are proud to support through this Yacht Support platform," stated Jan van Hogerwou, the commercial executive at Damen Yachting.

He further added, "Witnessing her in open waters and nearing the final stages of construction before her delivery in just a couple of months marks the beginning of an exhilarating journey." The construction of Five Oceans commenced in December 2022, following two years of meticulous design and development. The YS 53 series is an advanced iteration of the YS 5009, originally derived from Damen's commercial platforms. Notable features include a spacious aft deck spanning nine metres, designed for carrying various water toys and tenders, along with a 15-tonne deck crane for deployment and retrieval.

The support yacht is equipped with two Rolls Royce MTU engines, delivering a combined power output of 6,000hp and a top speed of 19 knots. Additionally, the vessel meets IMO Tier III standards, significantly reducing harmful emissions by 70% for operations covering a range of 5,000 nautical miles. According to the shipyard, Five Oceans is designed with a strong emphasis on performance, efficiency, and comfort.

With a gross tonnage just below 500GT, Five Oceans can accommodate between six and 16 guests or staff, depending on the owner's requirements, along with crew quarters for 10. BOATPro reports that Damen Yachting currently has seven units in various stages of construction, including another YS 53. This news follows the recent delivery of the 60-metre superyacht Satemi.
