Turkey reported on Wednesday that a fatal assault took place at the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) near Ankara, as media outlets documented a significant explosion at the location and displayed video of gunfire exchanges.
"A terrorist attack was executed against the TUSAS facilities in Kahramankazan, Ankara. Regrettably, we have martyrs and injured individuals," Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated on social media platform X.
The origin of the explosion and the ensuing gunfire remained uncertain, with certain media sources alleging a suicide attack had transpired. Emergency responders were deployed to the scene, according to the state-run Anadolu Agency.
Television footage revealed a damaged entrance and a nearby skirmish in a parking area. TUSAS stands as one of Turkey's foremost defense and aviation enterprises. It is responsible for the production of KAAN, the nation's inaugural domestic combat aircraft, among other initiatives.
