At least 41 individuals lost their lives and over 180 were injured on Tuesday as Russia targeted a military institute in the central town of Poltava, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. This marks one of the most lethal single attacks of the conflict. In a video statement, Zelenskiy revealed that Russian forces employed two ballistic missiles, causing significant damage to a building of the Military Institute of Communications. He further stated that he has mandated a comprehensive and swift investigation into the details of the assault.
"The Russian scum will certainly face accountability for this attack," Zelenskiy declared on the Telegram messaging platform. He reiterated his plea for enhanced Western air defenses and encouraged allies to permit the use of their long-range weapons for deeper incursions into Russian territory to safeguard Ukraine. "We continuously urge those with the ability to halt this terror worldwide: air defense systems and missiles are urgently needed in Ukraine, not stored away in warehouses."
Immediate long-range strikes capable of shielding us from Russian terror are imperative, not postponed indefinitely. Regrettably, each day of inaction results in unnecessary loss of life.
