The death toll from tropical storm Trami that struck the Philippines has climbed to 81, according to authorities on Saturday. At least 34 individuals are reported missing, they further stated. The Philippine News Agency cited the Philippine Civil Defence Office, noting that rescue operations are still in progress to assist thousands of people stranded in areas rendered inaccessible by flooding. The National Disaster Management Agency in the Philippines disclosed that approximately one million people were displaced due to floods resulting from heavy rains that inundated hundreds of towns in the northern part of the country. Residents found themselves trapped on rooftops and upper floors of their homes.
