At least 40 schools in Delhi received a bomb threat via email on Monday, demanding $30,000, according to the ANI news agency. Initial searches were conducted by police officials on school premises.

This year, schools, railway stations, and airports have been subjected to numerous bomb threats, which later proved to be hoaxes. Government data reveals that airlines and airports in India faced 999 hoax bomb threats from the start of the year until mid-November, with 12 individuals arrested during the same period.

Two schools received the threatening email on Sunday night, stating that multiple bombs were planted inside buildings and would be detonated unless the sender received $30,000. Many other schools received similar emails on Monday morning, prompting school authorities to ask parents to take their children home for the day. Parents were seen collecting their children from school gates as police searched the premises for any suspicious items.

Delhi police did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In May, over 50 schools in Delhi and the neighboring suburb of Noida received similar bomb threat emails that turned out to be hoaxes.
