Destiny 2's upcoming content episode, Revenant, launching on October 8, introduces a revamped version of the long-term activity Onslaught, now called Onslaught: Salvation. This new iteration features three fresh maps, including Widow's Court set on Earth, alongside new enemy types and defenses.
Centered around the story of the Scorn, undead alien enemies created by the Darkness, Onslaught: Salvation continues the narrative thread from The Final Shape and Echoes episodes. The Fanatic, leader of the Scorn, uses an Echo artifact to evolve his army, leading players to battle against Scorn and Cabal Shadow Legion enemies while freeing captured Eliksni.
The mode offers a 10-wave playlist, a 50-wave full version, and a 50-wave Expert-difficulty version, with Power level-enabled mechanics increasing the challenge. Updated defenses include a manual turret, air strikes, and Stasis-infused trip mines.
Emotional ties to Uldren Sov, now the Guardian Crow, add depth as he feels responsible for the Scorn's actions. Major Eliksni characters Mithrax and Eido play significant roles, with Eido serving as the main vendor and introducing tonics for combat and rewards.
Revenant focuses on Stasis and grenade launchers, highlighted by the Season Pass Exotic weapon, a Stasis breech-loading grenade launcher. The episode also brings back the Destiny 1 Exotic sniper rifle Ice Breaker and introduces a revised Crucible map and the Inverted Spire Strike.
Players can also look forward to earning a new skimmer board, The Xurfboard, purchasable from Xur for 97 Strange Coins.
