While Thanksgiving isn't typically known for gift-giving, Digital Extremes is bucking tradition with a special giveaway. The developer behind the popular game Warframe is offering its 2008 third-person shooter, Dark Sector, for free. However, you'll need to act fast, as the offer is only valid until November 30.

Digital Extremes made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) and on Dark Sector's Steam page, where the game is currently available for free. The company credits Dark Sector as an inspiration for Warframe, and the game was originally released on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The story follows covert operative Hayden Tenno as he undertakes a mission deep within enemy territory in the Eastern European nation of Lasria. Along the way, he uncovers a deadly secret that leaves him infected with the Technocyte Virus.

Normally, the Technocyte virus transforms its victims into mindless killing machines. Hayden, however, has managed to avoid this fate—at least for now—and has been granted superhuman abilities that could be crucial in his quest to survive Lasria. Earlier this summer, Digital Extremes provided a sneak peek of Warframe's upcoming expansion, Warframe: 1999. The expansion transports players to an alternate Earth, promising an intriguing storyline. Additionally, the developer fulfilled a child's Make-A-Wish by allowing them to be a voice actor in the forthcoming expansion, set to release later this year.
