The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination announced on Sunday, September 1, that digital parking permits are now available for people of determination (PoD) in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. This move eliminates the need for paper permits, enabling PoD to conveniently store their permits on their phones or devices. The organisation emphasized that these digital permits will be electronically linked to the system for those with active permits issued in either Abu Dhabi or Dubai. This digital service has made travel between the two emirates more accessible and flexible, according to the organisation. In Abu Dhabi, PoD can park for free in paid parking spaces, while in Dubai, paid parking spaces will still incur charges.
"The project is seen as a new step in enhancing the quality of life for people of determination," stated Salama Al Reyami, head of networks and operations at Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination. "We are advancing towards sustainability and digital transformation to forge a better reality and a simpler future," she added. Meanwhile, in Sharjah, PoD no longer need to display their ID cards on their car windshields for free parking. Starting May, their cards were automatically linked to the municipality's public parking system. It is also noteworthy that PoD in the UAE can apply for a free parking permit. The process is entirely free, straightforward, and quick, and can be done online.
