A recent video released by Abu Dhabi Police on Friday showcases a car colliding with a sedan parked on the roadside shoulder. In the video shared online, the car driven by a distracted driver is seen veering into the solid line and directly hitting the parked vehicle, causing it to skid off the road entirely.
The authority strongly advises drivers to refrain from stopping on the shoulder of the road and to instead proceed to the nearest safe parking area for their safety and that of other road users. In situations where the vehicle cannot be moved, drivers are urged to promptly contact the Command and Control Centre at 999 (Operations Room) for assistance to prevent accidents.
Abu Dhabi Police also cautions against the perils of distraction, particularly from using phones to engage in activities such as browsing social media, making calls, taking pictures, and other behaviors that can result in severe traffic accidents. The penalty for any form of distracted driving includes a fine of Dh800 and 4 traffic points.
