When it comes to horror movies, the rules are clear: scream, run, and fight for your life. But what if you couldn't do any of those things? What if, minute by minute, your body gradually shuts down while your would-be killer closes in? That's the chilling premise of Brian Netto and Adam Schindler's upcoming Netflix thriller, Don't Move.
The film takes the concept of being frozen with fear quite literally, following the harrowing experience of Kelsey Asbille's (Yellowstone) Iris. Her peaceful walk in the woods takes a sinister turn when a murderous stranger (Finn Wittrock) injects her with a paralytic agent. Check out the tense first trailer below:
Cameras sweep through an eerily unfriendly forest, with sinister forces at work. Although not directed by Sam Raimi, the mastermind behind Evil Dead, Raimi produced this film. As the new trailer reveals, human monstrosities are more than enough to create hell on Earth. The trailer, narrated with an unsettlingly cheerful tone by Wittrock's character, effectively conveys the horror of Iris' predicament as she struggles to escape death while her body slowly shuts down.
"You have about 20 minutes before you're completely paralyzed," Wittrock calmly explains, detailing how within a minute Iris will lose her fine motor skills, within 10 minutes she'll have tingling legs, and eventually, she'll barely be able to breathe. The real-time element adds to the film's unsettling atmosphere.
Written by T.J. Cimfel and David White (Shut In), the film is packaged in an 85-minute runtime. Its compelling concept convinced one of the genre's great masters to join the project. All signs point to Don't Move being a must-see when it hits Netflix on October 25th. We'd say run, don't walk to catch this one, but given the film's premise, we'll just stay rooted to the spot until it drops.
