President-elect Donald Trump was honored as Time’s “Person of the Year” on Thursday following his remarkable political resurgence, which the magazine hailed as “unprecedented in American history.” Sam Jacobs, Time’s editor in chief, revealed on NBC’s “Today” show that Trump was chosen as the magazine’s 2024 Person of the Year because “he had the greatest impact on the news in 2024, for better or worse.”

“This individual achieved an historic comeback, reshaped the American presidency, and is fundamentally altering American politics,” Jacobs stated. “It’s difficult to dispute that the person taking office in the Oval Office is the most influential figure in the news.”
