DP World and Evyap Group have finalized a strategic merger, uniting the capabilities of two prominent ports on the Marmara Sea to establish a new international logistics hub that will enhance Türkiye's critical role in global trade. This merger received the necessary regulatory approval from the Turkish Competition Authority. The newly established entity, DP World Evyap, involves DP World acquiring a 58% stake in Evyapport, while Evyap Group holds a 42% share in DP World Yarımca. The rebranding introduces 'DP World Evyap Yarımca' and 'DP World Evyap Körfez' as the new identities for these significant maritime gateways.
DP World Evyap aims to address the rising demand for advanced logistics in the region, increase Türkiye's export and import volumes, stimulate the growth of new sectors, and reinforce the country's burgeoning status as a key hub in international supply chains. The merger will create a combined 2,088 meters of berthing space, enabling the simultaneous handling of multiple ultra-large container vessels at both terminals. The total annual container handling capacity will surpass 2 million TEUs, and the integrated operation will extend to include project and heavy lift cargo services.
Additionally, DP World Evyap will benefit from advanced road and rail connections and improved turnaround times, supported by a team of over 900 logistics experts committed to optimizing cargo journeys. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman and CEO, expressed, "DP World's vision is to propel global trade towards a more robust, efficient, and sustainable future. Our strategic partnership with Evyapport advances this strategy in Türkiye, one of our most significant markets. We are thrilled to offer enhanced end-to-end solutions to our customers and the numerous benefits in speed and efficiency from this union."
Kris Adams, CEO of DP World Türkiye, highlighted, "This is a thrilling partnership that will deliver substantial economic benefits to Türkiye and the broader region. DP World Evyap's integration of the strengths of our existing infrastructures will provide our customers with a formidable new service offering at the core of this increasingly vital region for global trade." Mehmed Evyap, founder and CEO of Evyap Holding, added, "This partnership merges the global expertise of DP World with the local insights of Evyapport, strengthening our foothold in the port sector as we expand our investments in this area. The new company will reduce operation times, enhance service diversity, and add value to our customers and Türkiye's trade through efficiencies achieved across the two partnership terminals."
