Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and the Ruler of Sharjah, officially opened the Arabic Cultural Institute at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, Italy. At the event, Sheikh Sultan expressed his satisfaction with the partnership between Sharjah and the university, which started seven years ago and culminated in the creation of the institute. He emphasized the cultural interactions that have occurred, such as student and delegation exchanges between Sharjah and Milan.
Sheikh Sultan also discussed his studies on the Arabic language and its roots, pointing out the links between Arabic and ancient human migration patterns, with evidence discovered in Sharjah. He outlined his ambition to develop a comprehensive Arabic language database, enhancing the knowledge of the language's deep history. The ceremony included a performance by the ARABCOR choir, made up of students who have learned Arabic at the university.
Sheikh Sultan also toured the Sharjah Archaeology Exhibition, which displays 83 artifacts from various historical epochs, highlighting Sharjah's cultural legacy. The Arabic Cultural Institute, the first in Italy, aims to bolster connections between Arab and Western cultures, encourage cultural exchange, and support Arabic language education and literary collaboration. The institute will also promote partnerships between Arab and Italian publishers, offer Arabic language courses, and expand the Arabic Language Festival in Milan.
