An Israeli drone reportedly captured the final moments of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar's life as he futilely attempted to strike down the device with a piece of wood before being killed, according to officials. Shocking footage reveals the deployment of a drone to inspect a building in Rafah that was struck by a group of IDF soldiers on Thursday. An injured Sinwar, with his face covered, was seen sitting alone on a couch in the destroyed building, while the IDF soldiers were unaware that they were observing the very man they had been hunting since he orchestrated the Oct. 7, 2023 terrorist attack on Israel. When Sinwar finally noticed the drone hovering nearby, he made a desperate attempt to throw an object at the UAV to conceal his location. The soldiers then ordered a second strike on the building, resulting in the deaths of Sinwar and two other Hamas terrorists who were with him. After retrieving the body and comparing it to DNA samples obtained from Sinwar during his time as a prisoner, officials confirmed that the man killed in the strike was indeed the terror chief.

IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari informed reporters that Sinwar had likely been wounded in the hand and was seeking refuge in the building when it was attacked by Israeli forces. Hagari suggested that Sinwar was likely attempting to escape north as the Israeli military advanced in Rafah, a region where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians had sought refuge earlier this year. Sinwar's death has been celebrated by US and Israeli officials as a significant setback for Hamas, potentially bringing an end to the war in Gaza and freeing the remaining 97 hostages taken on Oct. 7.

“To the people of Gaza, I have a simple message,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated. “This war can end tomorrow. It can end if Hamas lays down its arms and returns our hostages. Israel will ensure the safety of all those who return our hostages,” Netanyahu added.
