Dubai, with its central location and global connectivity, serves as a pivotal hub for businesses worldwide, including VFS Global, which has its headquarters here. The UAE provides unparalleled opportunities for both businesses and individuals to expand and thrive professionally. This global appeal attracts people from all corners of the world, which directly impacts VFS Global's operations. Given that visas are a necessity for most international travelers, our centers see a surge in visitors from across the globe seeking visas for the countries we serve.

Monaz Billimoria, Regional Head – UAE, VFS Global, notes a growing interest in Japan as a travel destination. The upcoming Expo in Osaka is expected to boost travel to Japan, with heightened demand anticipated in the lead-up to the event. Additionally, the Sakura season is another period when we foresee increased traveler interest. The stabilized Yen has made Japan more affordable, enhancing its appeal among aspirational travelers. We are witnessing a steady rise in Japan visa applications; in response, we are doubling our appointment slots in December and aim to triple them by March 2025. A positive trend is the increasing number of travelers applying for visas well in advance, which helps manage the growing demand for international travel.

The outsourcing of visa services has grown significantly over the years, offering governments high efficiency at no cost while providing travelers with secure, reliable, and seamless solutions. Governments are also increasingly adopting digital visas to modernize and streamline their processes, aiming for greater efficiency and convenience. VFS Global supports this digital shift, having developed robust eVisa platforms for 10 sovereign governments. As of 1 September 2024, we will also offer the Japan eVisa service, allowing eligible travelers to complete their applications without submitting their passports. Our team will handle the necessary documentation and submit it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the eVisa sent directly to the applicant once approved.

Embracing digital transformation is central to our strategy. Over the past decade, VFS Global has collaborated with client governments to create over 16 unique digital products and solutions, ensuring secure, seamless, and efficient visa application processes. We anticipate continued growth in travel demand in the coming years, both for leisure and business. As international travel transitions from a luxury to a necessity, Japan is set to emerge as one of the fastest-growing destinations for travelers from the UAE and beyond.
