The emirate's inaugural gastroenterology-focused integrated hospital has commenced construction, with the laying of the foundation stone. Scheduled for completion by 2026, the Asan-Emirates Digestive Diseases Hospital marks the first international outpost of one of South Korea's largest hospitals and healthcare centers.
Spanning 21,150 square meters and featuring nine floors with 65 beds, the new hospital includes four operating rooms and a variety of luxury and VIP rooms. It is equipped to provide specialized care for digestive diseases, encompassing treatments for obesity, gastrointestinal oncology, liver transplant management, organ transplantation, endoscopy, and digestive health screenings. Additional support facilities include rehabilitation services, outpatient clinics, an intensive care unit, and a day care unit.
In addition to advancing the healthcare sector, the Asan-Emirates project will function as an educational hub for local specialists, benefiting from the expertise of the Korean medical team. As the pioneering facility of its kind in Dubai, it will bolster the UAE’s proficiency in digestive health, gastrointestinal oncology, liver transplant management, and lifestyle-related diseases.
The hospital will employ "minimally invasive and preventive procedures based on a multidisciplinary approach," according to Dr. Soo Sang Park, Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon and Chief Financial Officer of Asan Hospital. The Asan-Emirates Digestive Hospital is a venture of the Emirati company Scope Investment.
Awad Sagheer Al Ketbi, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, highlighted that Dubai is a prime location for major international hospitals and medical centers due to the significant advancements in the health sector, the favorable investment climate, and the rising demand for high-quality health services. Moon Byung-Jun, the Consul General of the Republic of Korea, emphasized that the establishment of the center’s first branch outside Korea is a product of collaboration between Scope Investment and Dubai Healthcare City Authority, aiming to deliver top-tier healthcare services to patients globally.
